MIND RULES OVER HEART
Learning and knowing someone is a life long process because deep down humans have an insightful tendency to keep on changing their attitude or behavior with time and life experiences. Judging someone, within a specific time limit (within 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, 3 hours, 3 minutes), on the other hand is an analytical skill that human race has high-handedly developed since ages. This strategy to judge someone quickly helps us to save time and move on.
The ability to make spontaneous remarks, comments and decision is the brain child of a highly intelligent and intellectual mind. This brain is not only physically situated on the top of the body but also has mental strength, logical power and staff support to stay at the top of an organization. None of the other body parts of the organization have the power, desire or status to challenge or question the autocratic decision of the supremo and hence they dare not. The fear factor works supremely and supremacy enjoys its status.
The practice to judge someone or someone’s capabilities instantaneously is quite pragmatic. It is practical when the decision is made only for that particular moment or incident and is based on some experiential evidence that the nominated authority thinks that it has observed. Mind you that this so called observation might be a self-possessed obsession as well. The same practicality transforms into a nasty habit or a prejudiced prediction or a harmful addiction when a momentary decision is turned into a permanent tag or a life long label for the person under scrutiny.
The intriguing fact is that this labelling capacity is not at all there in childhood and hence cannot be termed as natural or congenital by any means. It is not found even in those adolescents, adults or mature beings who have been conscious enough to keep their child-like behavior purely intact and alive. This skill nurtures under the influence of an highly ambitious power-packed mind which not only indulges in ruling over the childish heart but also enjoys demeaning the spirited soul.

How can introverts succeed and thrive in extroverted work environments?
Let me seek an example of a work environment which needs only and only extroverts and has absolutely no space for introverts. Keep me posted if you find any or even many.
At the onset let us be very clear in our understanding that being an ‘introvert’ or an ‘extrovert’ is not a negative or positive aspect of ones personality. It is ones way of living life or expressing oneself and need not be changed out of some kind of pride or prejudice.
Ever working environment or place has space for both kind of individuals and one can fit in the system quite easily and naturally by adopting the role which fits ones basic nature or personality trait. The team leaders or the Human Resources Department of such work places are specially designated to give an individual a job as per that individual’s personality trait. That is how a good organization uses and develops its goodwill and performance. There are numerous ways that HRD can utilize to help an introvert individual to succeed and thrive even in a so called extroverted or hyped up work environment.
The task of changing oneself can also be adopted if one finds itself necessary to survive in the work environment that one finds oneself in. This task to bring necessary changes in oneself has to come from within and not because of some kind of external force or compulsion. Self-development programme works much better after prudent self-analysis. Such an individual can start with talking to oneself first and then by expressing ones ideas, concepts, concerns, values , points to ones close friends, family members and peers. One can assign oneself regular outings and join social networks to gain social contacts and momentum.
A tortoise can’t be compelled to run as fast as a rabbit and neither can a rabbit be asked to shrink its feet and go into a shell. A tortoise can be asked to swim fast and a rabbit can be asked to go slow or take a nap only to revitalize itself but this is productive only if that tortoise and rabbit is willing to do so out of some life threatening need, survival instinct or a desire to explore oneself. Exploitation never works - not in the long run at least.

OFFICE POLITICS - a boon or a bane
How can someone navigate office politics without compromising their integrity or alienating colleagues, especially in a highly competitive corporate environment?
We come across this pertinent question many a times during our professional life. Most of the times the questioner is a youngster who has joined a job with a lot of exuberance to establish his/her worth by making timely use of his/her academic talents and non-academic skills but is finding themselves caught in a rattrap after the probationary or apprentice period. The office or work experience that one actually goes through one's work span baffles the young mind to choose the right way or path to achieve one's goal o ambition. Needless to say that each and every employee wants to grow and get an appraisal which not only improves one's financial and social status but also substantiates one's being and self-respect.
The youngsters choose their path as per their perspective or belief. The chosen path could be that of a diligent and dedicated employee who works hard as per one's best capability and ability. The other path could be to work as smartly as possible as per the need of the hour and office. Then there are employees who don't walk the talk but do talk a lot about their consistency in work despite the work, health or family pressure they have to face in this pathetic corporate world. Flattery is one more skill that employees employ to achieve their goals. Every employee adopts the way which he/she thinks right and take the path which pleases his/her senses.
Each and every way is righteous if it helps one to achieve one's goal in stipulated time without any loss of self-respect and integrity. Employees do shift their path or point of view after walking on or practicing on it for an affordable duration of time. This change comes after analyzing the results of their office endeavor. Age and work experience has got nothing to do with this practical entrepreneurship period as every boss or management has a different mindset or theory and you know that "Boss is always right".
So, the question remains as it is and the saga continues...
[The first and foremost thing that someone has to do to get rid of office politics is to leave the very idea of navigating or directing or piloting the office politics. Office politics is not only quite a common practice in a highly competitive corporate world but also a favorite time-pass activity in which the flickering mind indulges quite passionately. This involvement in dirty office politics can be easily avoided by staying stoic. Any kind of active or passive participation in such unhealthy and unhygienic office politics has the power to make anyone at least an accomplice, if not a criminal, in conduction of a lucrative crime. Being a witness to such an unnecessary activity requires a lot of patience and skill. Just being an indifferent or dormant observer without any reaction or response whatsoever is a tremendous art of applied diplomacy which one acquires through deep meditation by applying self-control practices. This attitude might alienate one’s colleagues up to a certain extent or time but it would never compromise one’s integrity towards the organization or job.]
